Dogs

These dogs are available:

Name: Sophie and Alexander
Breed(s): Chow Chows
Age: Senior (over 9 yrs)
Weight: About 75 lbs each
Reason for being at shelter: Their owners died
General info: Sophie and Alexander are new arrivals. They are pretty scared and timid right now… Their world has just been dramatically turned around after both of their owners died. We believe they are used to being outside; probably need to be the only pets… We are still learning about their personalities, and will update more info as we get to know them.
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $60 for BOTH dogs

Name: Abby
Breed(s): Great Dane
Age: About 3 years
Weight: About 125 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner Surrender
General info: Abby is a sweatheart! She WILL jump up and give hugs, though, so you must be OK with that… Or, train her not to jump up… Abby is OK with other dogs, and would be a very nice family dog for someone that is experienced with Danes!

**Abby will be spayed (and have her stomach tacked to prevent bloat) very soon!**
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $300

Name: Guido
Breed(s): Pit Bull Terrier
Age: About 6 years old
Weight: About 100 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner died
General info: Guido is a very large, happy and friendly guy! He came in with Capone and they get along very well. Guido’s former guardian called him, “the best chubby pit bull someone could have!” And we agree… We are also told that one of his favorite activities is “sniffing stuff.” If you think Guido might make a good companion for you, come on down and meet him!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Name: Capone
Breed(s): Pit Bull
Age: About 3 years
Weight: About 60 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner died
General info: Capone is very timid! He came in with Guido and they get along very well. Capone would do best with an experienced owner that can work with his timid nature and build his confidence. Capone is a new arrival so we will update more when we get to know him!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Name: Darby
Breed(s): Possible Beagle / Bassett mix (just a guess!)
Age: About 4 years old
Weight: About 30 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner Surrender — not good with kids
General info: Darby is a good boy, but he can be timid in new situations. He lived with kids for a few years, but he did have a biting incident (which was why he was surrendered), so it would be best that he does not live in a home with kids. Darby has been good with most other dogs at the shelter, and does not seem to care about cats. He likes to jump up and give hugs! His former owner called him a “wonderfully affectionate dog who is protective and loyal.” He loves to play, and would be a great walking partner, but he will need a committed owner that can work on his defensiveness and keep him in a safe environment.
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Name: Trevor
Breed(s): Lab mix
Age: About 5 years old
Weight: About 70 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner surrender
General info: Trevor is a special boy… He is so sweet and loving and all he wants is to spend every waking minute with his people — literally! Trevor has severe separation anxiety. When left alone he WILL be destructive, and he WILL chew out of a kennel. Trevor will NEED someone that is able to be with him at all times… Perhaps he would be the perfect service dog??? Trevor is friendly with all people, and is good with other dogs (he is not good with cats).
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $60

Name: Soku
Breed(s): Husky mix
Age: About 5 years
Weight: About 65 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Arrived as a stray
General info: Soku is a great dog! He’s friendly, calm, and good around other animals. However, Soku has arrived to our shelter as a stray several times, so he will need a new home where he is kept secure! Soku has a great temperament, and he like to communicate with that typical husky howl. Soku walks really well on a leash and he will make a great companion for the right person!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Name: Chloe
Breed(s): Jack Russell Terrier
Age: About 1.5 years old
Weight: About 15 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Surrender
General info: Chloe is a neat little dog, but she is quite the terrier!!! She would do best as an ONLY DOG, and she needs to be in a home with NO SMALL KIDS. Chloe can be a tenacious little dog with lots of attitude. If you are unfamiliar with the JRT breed, Chloe might be too much of a challenge for you. However, if you enjoy JRTs and are experienced with the breed, you should come meet Chloe!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $150

Name: Meadow
Breed(s): Labrador mix
Age: About 2 years old
Weight: About 70lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner Surrender (not the right fit for the family)
General info: Meadow is a sweet girl! She has gotten along with another dog in the past, but she may be more picky about her canine friends these days… She is also not so much a fan of cats, but she would probably be fine living with older kids. Meadow was adopted from us a few months ago, but was returned because the owners decided she wasn’t the right fit for their family.

Meadow has just arrived back at the shelter, so we will update more info soon!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Bobbie Mae (currently in a foster home)

Age: 13 years old

Weight: About 17 lbs (she is overweight!)

Reason for being at shelter: Owner Surrender

General info: Bobbie is a sweet older lady with lots of spunk! She is currently doing very well in a foster home living with other dogs, and she is scheduled for a dental cleaning soon. The foster mom will provide us with more information on her personality and likes/dislikes soon!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $65

Name: Mooney
Breed(s): Possible lab mix
Age: About 8 years old?
Weight: About 75 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Arrived as a stray
General info: Mooney arrived to us as a stray in pretty rough shape… He is missing lots of hair on his hind end/hind legs, and has flaky/scabby skin. Mooney may look like an older dude, but he is strong and spunky! We don’t think Mooney had much in the way of training in his life because he very much likes to pull on his leash, and he does not respond to commands very well… Mooney may be used to being an outside dog.

*We will update more info as we get to know Mooney — he will be available to go to his new home after he is neutered!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Name: Myra
Breed(s): Chow mix
Age: Almost 9 years old
Weight: About 65 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: It’s complicated…
General info: Myra is a SWEETHEART! But… she does have her issues… Myra is great with people, and fun to walk on a leash, but Myra does NOT like other dogs or cats! She MUST be an ONLY pet in her new home. She has never seriously injured another animal, but she will CHASE!

Also, Myra MUST have a very well-FENCED yard. Even with her older age, and her missing a limb, Myra is still quite agile and energetic — she WILL chew through a rope and/or climb a fence to pilot her own adventures through the neighborhood.

Additionally, it is recommended that Myra be kenneled in the house when left alone. She has been adopted and returned once for doing damage to the interior of the house when she accidentally closed herself in a bathroom while wandering around…

Myra may be a challenge… But, with the right owner she’ll be a great dog! She just needs an experienced owner that can provide her with the kind of environment she needs to be safe and secure.
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $60

Name: Gracie
Breed(s): Chihuahua
Age: About 8 years old
Weight: About 13 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Owner surrender
General info: Gracie is a sweet heart! She’s friendly and happy, and calm most of the time :) Gracie loves to go for walks, and then settle in to her bed for a nice nap. Gracie does have a heart murmur, and may need meds for that in the near future. Gracie was very recently diagnosed as having diabetes. So, she has started twice a day insulin and is doing VERY WELL!
For more info on Gracie, please contact us!!!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet):$75

Name: Athena
Breed(s): Pit Bull
Age: About 2 years old
Weight: About 70 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Surrender — can’t keep
General info: Athena is the SWEETEST girl! Athena used to be good with other animals, but as she matured she now prefers to be the ONLY pet in the home! Athena will need a very well fenced yard, and an owner that can keep a close eye on her (she likes to escape, and she’s very good at it!). Athena loves to be loved, and she needs an experienced owner to provide her with all the best!!
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

Name: Ceelo
Breed(s): Possible chow mix
Age: About 3 years old
Weight: About 70 lbs
Reason for being at shelter: Arrived as a stray; owner chose not to pick up
General info: Ceelo is an ENERGETIC BOY! He is a good dog, with a good heart, but he needs some training! He will also need a very well fenced yard because he gets bored easily and will try to create his own adventure… Ceelo is not good with other dogs, and we don’t think he would like cats, either. Also, older kids would be best for Ceelo, because he jumps around a lot and may knock down small kids. Ceelo’s haircoat is VERY fluffy and will require either shaving, or lots of brushing.
Adoption fee (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, and a health check from a vet): $120

LuLu is so happy! LuLu is a very sweet pit bull girl that needs a home that can spend lots of time with her (LuLu can get herself into a bit of trouble if she gets bored…). LuLu needs a home with no other dogs, and has lived with cats successfully. She would make a great family dog looking for a big happy bulldog!
